THE ORIGIN OF “DR. CHOY”
"Dr. Choy" is the pseudonym of Noah Choy, artist/designer and Asian male. The name "Dr. Choy" is a tongue and cheek commentary on a cultural stereotype that Asian males are expected to become doctors, lawyers, and business men... definitely not artists.
Born in California, and raised in Vancouver, BC, Noah was a stranger to his cultural heritage. But living in Vancouver he got his inspiration from his surroundings. Whether it was driving through the Mercedes-Benz infested streets of Richmond, walking through an Asian supermarket madhouse, or eating Dim Sum at a noisy Chinese restaurant, These daily encounters helped fuel the creation of his designs. The “Dr. Choy” tag first started when Noah was at the Emily Carr University of Art and Design (98-02). During the second year of his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, he discovered the fantastical world of silk-screening and began printing his own designs on T-shirts.
THE SWEET HUNKY T-SHIRTS
The images and text on the T-Shirts poke fun at Asian stereotypes and the place of Asians in popular culture. The T-shirts mimic the grammatically incorrect (but amusing) slogans of Asian products and ads. hence the "8000% Sweet Hunky" phrase.

Choy Boy is the main character in the "Dr. Choy 8000% Super Chums" story line that was introduced in the summer of 2009. The characters are the creatures that make up Choy Boy's imaginary world. They allow him the escapism from the stresses and anxieties of achieving 100% in math class. Together they play and come up with ways to break the stereotypes that all Asians are smart, good at math, hard working, stupidly horrible at driving, and looking like they are always asleep..
We hope you will enjoy the 8000% sweet hunkiness of the Dr. Choy products.
